In the past week, we've upgraded (changed, at least) from our old DOS-based Impromed software to the Windows-based Infinity software. The new software is so "powerful". This means it is so complicated. All staff are a little ragged around the edges from dealing with the switch. I long for my quill pen and parchment.
UPDATE – 11/21/09 Well, I should have gone to the original report instead of listening to the news media. Today's Wall Street Journal says "We probably, in retrospect, could have been more clear." This from Dr. Diana Petitti, vice-chairwoman of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. "The task force is not against women having mammograms […]
I've got that bag full of food hung on the doorknob. The Boy Scouts (and Cub Scouts) will be out early tomorrow morning picking up those canned goods. It's the biggest nationwide good turn ever, with millions of food items collected for food pantries to feed the hungry. Our Troop was out in the cold […]

Why, because I surgically removed it, that's why. A few weeks before, Scruffy's owner complained that the ear was stinky and painful […]
I just haven't had the time at night to play on the blog much lately. I've got several cases that I intend to post, but they are still sitting on the back burner. If you look at the date of the last post, it looks like I've just been ignoring the blog. The thing is, […]
This is Shockey. He's a highly trained member of local law enforcement. Need a canine officer to search for drugs or detain a suspect? He's your man… dog, I mean. Even a highly trained dog sometimes is not perfect. In his training, his handler was accustomed to using a tennis ball to reward him in […]
While our power was out for two weeks, I kept a journal. I'm working on getting it online for anyone who is interested. You can find it here. Dig the chin whiskers on that icy dog.
Last Saturday the Sons of the Western Bootheel (including me) sang a few cowboy songs. We were the dinner music after the trail ride was over. The Senath Lions Club and the Dunklin County 4-H club hosted a Saddle Up and Ride for St.Jude fund-raiser. It was hosted by my brother Will and his family […]
Last week it was a little cold for motorcycle riding, but okay for general-purpose living. Suddenly we’re down in the teens. The dog bowl is frozen solid in the morning now. Time to put the door back on the dog-house. People often ask if it’s too cold for the dog to be outside. These folks […]
