This is Bear. He's nibbling at the grass here. For over one year he has had frequent episodes of vomiting. Sometimes it's just a little fluid, sometimes undigested food, sometimes a little grass, or a combination of the above. He came to see us after having numerous unsatisfactory attempts at treatment. "I'm here for a […]

I posted on fly-bite dermatitis two years ago, as part of a longer post. What brought it back to mind was this dog. Since he has one ear up and erect, while the other is down and floppy, we have one dog who shows the typical sore places for both styles of ear. The mosquito […]
Here's today's question from the wide world of internet: Hi. We have a 1.5yr old Samoyed. He cracked his fang tooth in half with slight pulp showing. We have been referred to dental specialist 150 miles away from us. He has put him on pain relief and antibiotics for 2 months, apparently until the tissue […]
Man, I know that I've talked about this before and the information is all over the place, but here's today's emailed question: > hi all i have a 8 week old puppy and i gave him a 7-1 shot that i got from the local farm store and i need to know how often do […]
In the past week, we've upgraded (changed, at least) from our old DOS-based Impromed software to the Windows-based Infinity software. The new software is so "powerful". This is Cady, the dog we have now. She’s a mutt who needed a home. We adopted her as a near-adult stray. With the exception of being a cat-killing fool, and snapping at intruders when we’re not home, she’s been a pretty good dog. She’s eleven now and hasn’t really had any major health issues. […]
I had a birthday last week and my wife gave me the best card ever. My (younger) sister always remembers my birthday with a “funny” card about how old and decrepit I must be getting… like I need reminding. This one is better. Some years ago, another Scoutmaster had some patches made up for the […]
Last weekend was Scout Quest 100. It was the second biggest Scouting event in the country, second only to the upcoming National Jamboree. This year is the 100th anniversary year of the Boy Scouts of America. Every 10 years, the Greater St.Louis Area Council puts on a big shindig in Forest Park. It’s the only […]
A reader with a question about Anal Sac Problems asked “are you still there?”Good question. Yes, I am, but between working long hours, and keeping my daughter’s Peace Corps site up to date, and Scout stuff, I just haven’t been doing much blogging lately. I had a great motorcycle ride today. I thought it might […]
