This is the “after” picture. I didn’t take “before” pictures. Things were a little hectic at the time. “The other dogs have attacked Cuddles, and I can’t tell whether she’s still alive or not. I can’t see her breathing.” It was before 7:00 AM, and Cuddles’ owner was as upset as you can be […]

When I was a tyke, I wanted a sword and a horse. I carved "Zorro" into the footboard of my bed while I was supposed to be taking a nap [a time during which I suppose my mother rested — I spent the time coloring the windowshades, jumping on the bed, etc.]. Since I was […]
There are still plenty of ways and plenty of time for this eye to go south, but (incredibly) the dog is keeping his eye open, even in bright light, not squinting, rarely even trying to rub it. The cornea is not ulcerating (at least it's not taking up fluorescein dye), and the sutures are holding. […]
Yes, Wal-Mart's house brand of cat food (manufactured by Mars, makers of fine candy and pet food — a winning combination, but don't get confused on Halloween) has a little Salmonella prolem. Salmonella, famous for food poisoning, not for salmon. Here's a link to the full info. Supposedly these bags are all way out east […]
I spent last weekend with the Boy Scouts. Fall Camporee for the Cherokee District was at Camp Pine Ridge in Illinois. The weather was perfect and it was a great weekend for me to enjoy with the boys, especially my nephew and my brother. Here's a link to our Troop website and my pictures.
A corneal laceration is a cut or tear through the cornea, the clear part on the front of the eye. A cat's claw could do it. Cut all the way through it, and the inside of your eye starts going outside your eye. Not good. Stuff outside the eye, like bacteria, can go inside your eye. Also […]
Lot's of stuff going on lately. Today I started at 7:30 AM, and worked without a break until 1:30 PM, when I was able to grab my lunch/breakfast. Not much time for blogging, but I'll catch up some stuff soon… maybe. You may remember the Prodigal Great Dane. We saw her on a follow-up a […]
So, do you remember in the "Addams Family" movie when little Wednesday is going to be a serial killer for Halloween? She wears her regular clothes as a costume because "They look just like everybody else." That's the way that abscessed teeth usually look. You can't see any difference between the diseased tooth and the normal […]
This is a question that I have long known to be a mystery to many people. When I ask for a teaspoon of poop for a stool specimen, I receive anything from a smear on a kleenex to a coffee-can full. I have a feeling that these people rely on food-products that don't require much […]
Last night was the third night out of six that I didn't get to bed until after midnight. Man, I didn't do that when I was in college. I've got lots of things to post, just not enough time to sit around at the computer. Hey, remember this kid from a previous post? Too much […]
